John Moore earned his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC in 2008, following a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheaton College. While a student at Wheaton College, John was a member of the nationally ranked Men’s Soccer program which, upon John’s graduation from Wheaton, created the “Johnny Moore Award,” now presented annually. This award is given to a player that leads by example and puts the good of the team first, in honor of the exceptional passion and leadership John demonstrated while a member of the team. After one year of the financial industry, John’s passion for exercise and diabetes led him to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) where he directed the Team Diabetes program for the New England Region. While working with the ADA John succeeded in coaching dozens of participants to complete the marathon. Additionally, John trained and raced with the participants, finishing 3rd in his age group at the Disney Marathon and raising more than $200,000 for the Team Diabetes program. In 2007, John joined Insulindependence as the first member of the inaugural Triabetes Ironman team and was given the “Return With Honor” award for his dedication to the 2008 Triabetes project. John has co-founded and co-managed a manufacturing and wholesaling business and worked as a wholesaler in the insurance industry. John served on the Insulindependence Board from February 2008-December 2009.
